About the Mathematics & Computer Science Department

The Department of Mathematics & Computer Science offers a range of academic programs designed to prepare students for careers in mathematics, statistics, computer science and related fields in business, industry or government or for further graduate studies. Preparing future teachers of mathematics or computer science for our public schools is a special strength of the department.

Several different scholarship and grant programs are available:  

• S-STEM (Scholarships in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics)
• TEACH (Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education)
• GTF (Greater Texas Foundation)

Undergraduate majors and minors are offered in both mathematics and computer science. Graduate programs leading to the Master of Science or Master of Arts in Mathematics, Master of Science in Mathematics Teaching, and Master Mathematics Teaching Certificate for grades 4-8 and 8-12 are available.
